New SRAM RED represents the pinnacle of road racing technology and delivers countless performance advantages to the professional and enthusiast alike.
For 2012, the new RED continues in the SRAM tradition as the leader in light weight, flawless shifting, and ergonomic advantage with gorgeous aesthetic styling. How did we improve on the world's best mechanical gruppo? We started with everything we knew, and then designed a brand new drivetrain from scratch. Each part was engineered with the twin goals of eliminating the superfluous while focusing on an overall synergy that translates into unmatched performance. Elegant and simple, RED perfects the riding experience through genuine innovation. SRAM RED changes everything.
Built to be stiff and aerodynamic, the 100 transfers your power to the road while you slice through the air. Made with a layup of high modulus carbon and intermediate modulus carbon, the frame is lightweight and strong. Keeping with the Tri standard, we run a GXP bottom bracket inside of the stiff, oversized shell. The new 100 keeps the same, time tested geometry, that has proven itself year after year, on an international stage.
The race against the clock can not be won with willpower alone. The Veloce 100 uses wing-like tubing to direct air flow around the bike, minimizing turbulence. The seattube features a cutout that allows the rear wheel to tuck in behind it, greatly reducing drag.
Giga X Pipe External Bottom Bracket Bearing Assembly. While other systems rely on side loading the bearings to eliminate play, which causes premature bearing wear, the GXP system is different. The GXP system captures the left side bearing between the spindle and the left crankarm while allowing the drive-side bearing to float axially on the spindle, thereby eliminating the necessity to side-load bearings during adjustment. The simplicity of installation is refined: once it is tightened to the proper specifications you are ready to roll with a worry free BB. The GXP system uses two bicycle specific cartridge bearings and eight seals for a smooth and long lasting ride.-SRAM

Right now I don’t know of a better price point from a domestic brand.
